Coimbatore also is known as the Manchester of South India is where this Largest bust sculpture resides. The 112.4ft(34.3m) tall statue Adiyogi is named and designed by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev who is also the founder of Isha Foundation.
The steel statue as said by Sadhguru is built to inspire and promote yoga among individuals. Adiyogi means “The First Yogi” which is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is considered as the originator of yoga.

The honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of Maha Shivarathri (24 Feb 2017) inaugurated the humungous statue along with the book written by Sadhguru, Adiyogi: The Source of Yoga. He also lit the yajna fire for the Maha Yoga Yagna.
Tamil Nadu Governor C.Vidhyasagar Rao, Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami were among the many who participated in the mega event. Prime Minister Modi on the inauguration mentioned that practicing yoga gives the spirit of oneness in self, family, and society.

The Significance of the Statue
The height of the statue(112ft) signifies 112 possibilities to attain Moksha and also the 112 chakras in the human system. A Linga consisting of five Chakras called the “Yogeshwar Linga” is placed in front of the Adiyogi statue.
The statue has been planned to be erected in Varanasi, Mumbai, and Delhi. Hundreds of tourist come to the foot of Velliangiri hills to pay a visit of the Adiyogi and the Isha Foundation which houses the Dhyana Linga. The bullock cart ride from the statue to the Isha Foundation gives a fun experience to the visitors.
