India is known for its variety shown in food also. Every region of India has own food culture; In Punjab Makki Di Roti and Sarson Da saag, Paratha; In South India, we taste different rice items like Dosa, Idli and Vada Sambhar; In Gujarat, we taste Khaman Dhokla Undhiyu; In Bengal, we taste Rosogulla In Maharashtra VadaPav. The list of Items is never-ending. But here we go through one of the Delicious Maharashtrian Breakfast “THALIPEETH”.

Thalipeeth is a multigrain healthy delicious Maharashtrian breakfast. It gives us lots of nutrition and calorie which make our starting of daily life very healthy. It tastes is medium spice.  It can be also stored and used whenever we want some quick food. We can eat thalipeeth with curd, green chilli and also with red spicy chutney. We add butter on it while eating gives you yummy expression. Indian Mother gives thalipeeth in children Tiffin box and also her husband’s lunch box. It is very helpful in our busy lifestyle where there is no proper sit-down breakfast and keeps our energy until our mid-day meal.

Ingredients

Making Thalipeeth is simple and easy. Total time to make thalipeeth is 25-30 min for 4 people. It is made from basically three flours whole wheat, millet and Bengal gram flour or Besan. It can be made with oats methi and spice like ginger and green chillies to give healthy and green twisted.

Ingredients:-

50 grams besan (Bengal gram flour), 50 grams jowar (white millet) flour, 50 grams whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta), 1 small chopped onion, 1 chopped tomato, 30 grams chopped coriander (dhania), 2 green chillies and salt to taste, oil for cooking, homemade white butter to serve.

Method:-

  • a) Mingle all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and make a thick batter using enough water.
  • b) Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and varnish, it with oil.
  • c) Pour a ladleful of the batter on the tava (griddle) and pat it evenly with your fingers to form a circle.
  • d) Cook the thalipeeth on a medium flame, using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
  • e) Use these steps again and again to make more thalipeeth.
  • f) Serve hot with curds and pickle.
