Unprecedented Security Measures for Maha Kumbh: UP Government’s 7-Tier Plan

Mahakumbh Nagar (UP), Dec 30 (PTI) – In anticipation of the massive influx of over 400 million devotees to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out an extensive seven-tier security plan. This comprehensive strategy aims to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the event, which is set to commence on January 13 and conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri.

To bolster security, authorities have established temporary police stations and checkpoints across urban and rural locales, as well as critical transit points such as railway stations, bus terminals, and airports. The deployment includes the Provincial Armed Constabulary, National Disaster Response Force, Central Armed Police Forces, Bomb Disposal Squads, and Anti-Sabotage Check teams.

Prayagraj Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba announced the creation of 13 temporary police stations and 23 checkpoints, increasing the total number of stations from 44 to 57. Approximately 10,000 police personnel will be strategically positioned throughout Prayagraj’s urban and rural areas.

The security infrastructure is meticulously organized into eight zones, 18 sectors, 21 companies, two reserve companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), five companies of the PAC, four teams of the NDRF, 12 Anti-Sabotage Check teams, and four Bomb Disposal teams. This robust arrangement underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly Maha Kumbh.

The grand event, beginning with Paush Poornima, promises to be a spiritual gathering of unparalleled magnitude, drawing pilgrims from across the globe. PTI NAV VN VN
