L-G Urges AAP to Boost ASHA Workers’ Pay, Settle Anganwadi Supervisors’ Dues
New Delhi, Dec 30 (PTI) – In a significant move, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has urged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to enhance the monthly stipend of ASHA workers and expedite the release of overdue salaries for Anganwadi supervisors. This recommendation follows a meeting with a delegation of ASHA and Anganwadi workers who voiced their concerns and sought the Lieutenant Governor’s intervention.\n\nASHA workers, who play a crucial role as non-medical health facilitators under the National Health Mission, currently receive a stipend of Rs 3,000 per month. Saxena has proposed an increase to Rs 9,000, highlighting that the last revision occurred in 2018. According to established guidelines, such revisions should occur every three years.\n\nAdditionally, the Lieutenant Governor has called on the Delhi government to address the issue of unpaid salaries for Anganwadi supervisors, who have been awaiting their dues for seven months. Saxena emphasized that these matters fall within the jurisdiction of the city government.\n\nThe delegation’s appeal underscores the pressing need for timely financial support for these essential workers, who are pivotal to community health and welfare.\n\nCategory: National Politics
