**Prayagraj, India:** In the wake of the recent tragic incidents at the Maha Kumbh Mela, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has called for immediate compensation to be provided to the families of devotees who lost their lives in accidents during the religious gathering. The Maha Kumbh Mela, known for attracting millions of pilgrims from across the globe, witnessed unfortunate accidents that resulted in several fatalities.
Addressing the media, Yadav emphasized the need for swift action from the state government to support the bereaved families. “The government must ensure that the kin of those who perished receive adequate financial assistance to help them cope with their loss,” he stated.
The Samajwadi Party leader also urged the authorities to implement stringent safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the lives of devotees attending the event.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, drawing millions of devotees who come to take a holy dip in the sacred rivers. The recent accidents have raised concerns over the management and safety protocols at such massive events.
